Guest testimonials for Rousselie Haute
Below is a selection of some of the comments made by our guests over the past few years.
Two weeks of perfect relaxation for our family. The barn is stunning with a wonderful pool and magnificent views - the pictures don't do it justice. It is a childs idea of heaven. Our grandson aged 18 months couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the cars he could ride on and play with - he was just so excited. You have to vist Chez Marie bar restaurant in Bussac to sample her menu of the day. A gentle stroll down to her bar - wholesome french cooking and a carafe of wine or 2 and an inebriated walk home - perfect. Visited Aubeterre and Brantome for the day - both must see. Wine tasting at Chateau de Tiregrand near Bergerac. Beautiful meal at Brantome by the river - thank you Jo and John for your recommendation. So a very big thank you to you both for making this venue everything this family needed for a truly relaxing holiday - heaven in an acre. One last year our little grandson loved being the egg man for the week.
After an eventful drive by some, soon all the stress was forgotten. An amazing house, blown away by the location, views and the facilities. Our 2 year old was in an Aladdins cave with all the toys - the adults were not far behind with the use of the pool and footy pitch and table football. Although we did not venture far from the location due to being spoilt bt the facilities here. Canoeing was great fun and the river at Lisle was very pretty with a good restaurant there. The boys loved hunting for the chicken eggs and enjoyed their success with boiled eggs with soldiers. It must also be noted that Jo and john were a great help and source of information. 10/10 holiday and hope to return, will recommend it to our friends and family.
WOW what an amazing place to have a long awaited family holiday - altogether again after 3 years. Emma 2 and a half was in absolute heaven with all a child could possibly want ( and much more ) to keep her happy. We loved the pool and Sophie ( 12 weeks old ) had her first dip - quite a hit with her. Saw so many lovely villages, chateaux and even got to see the monkeys in their forest at Rocamador. Emma highlight apart from collecting the egss and picking peas and lettuce was her first pony ride at L'Hermitage, Roulottes du Perigord. Thank you Jo and John for a simply wonderful holiday in your beautiful home. We've loved every moment and really wish we could stay longer. We will be certainly be telling all our friends what a peaceful and incredibly well equipped house this is, in wonderful surroundings.

Our 3rd visit need I say more - booked for next year as well.
This truly has been a fantastic find, Jo and John are wonderful owners who are full of useful information to help you get the most from your holiday. The house is beautiful and packed with so many toys that the kids didn't get bored for a second. The garden and pool area is amzing and our holiday went far too quickly. The kids loved collecting the eggs everyday and picking veg and salad for diner. We have fallen in love with the place and can't wait to come back again.

From the moment we arrived this house has been a pleasure to stay in, Jo and John are fantastic and nothing is too much trouble for them - from the welcoming hamper to booking restaurants for us. % of our party have had their hair done and it was a lovely and excellent bonus. Our party ranged from a 2 year old to 80 and every one of us enjoyed ourselves every minute of the day.Site seeing around the area was wonderful with canoeing the highlight of our trip. We usually vist France twice every year and this time we have done less sightseeing than usual as the house is a child paradise and we were reluctant to leave it. Katie our 2 year old couldn't believe the amount of toys there were. Add those to the bouncy castle and heated pool and slides etc she won't want to leave. We will be returning as soon as possible and we leave with a heavy heart.

Had a fantastic time in this beautiful house. Kids loved the swimming pool and gardens, and the bouncy castle was another big hit.
Our friends were staying nearby - their pool wasn't heated ( ha ha ) but ours was - definitely want to come back.
Our second visit - even better than the first - we love it here - house is so well equipped its hard to get the kids to leave so we can visit some of the local tourist sites.
Brantome is beautiful.
Such a wonderful place for the Knight family reunion - 5 grand children and 8 adults, fantastic weather, swimming every day and outdoor dining, everything here we needed. Many thanks to Jo and Johnfor your care and concern. Super doopa, from one happy grandma
Thank you for providing such a wonderful retreat from the world. Loved the house, the location and the hospitality from Jo and John. We can see why so many people come back year after year. Many thanks will be back as soo as we can.
Spent a super week ath this lovely property. The owners are great always on hand to help if needed but never intrusive.
We came with our son and daughter in law and grand daughter, there was something fro everyone here.
Brantome was a nice place to visit and for lunch by the river.
Moulin de pont in Lisle was excellent for lunch.
Sadly we ran out of time and did not explore the area as much as we wished. The garden was just so enjoyable, Louis the youngest son of the owners was a great playmate for Ellie.
Thanks John and Jo Louis and Max for a fantastic stay. The house is just peerfect for families and the children have so much to entertain them - leaving lots of time for mums and dads and grandparents to relax by the pool!!!
Not looking foward to returning to the rainy Uk - will miss the view and the gorgeous weather!!
Had a wonderful holiday in a fantastic property. Would recommend you to any family looking for an ideal holiday location. Thanks for everything.
Thank you so much for a fantastic fortnight at Rousselie Haute, we absolutely loved it. The range of toys is unbelieveable and the space for all of us to enjoy is the icing on the cake. Thank you for the delicious cakes, herbs and other fresh food. Sam and Scarlett loved feeding the chickens, seeing the chicks and collecting the eggs.
Emma and Ash love their haircuts and your recommendation for restaurants was so appreciated - one of the best meals we have ever had. I could go on for pages about all the ways you have made it a perfect family holiday but suffice to say we'd love to come back!!

We have had a fantastic 2 weeks - great weather, swimming everyday, amazing views and fabulous villa. The girls have enjoyed evrything feeding the chickens, picking tomatos, bouncing on the castle and stroking Maddy, Tiger and Charlie but mostly playing with Louis. The fruit and veg have been delicious as was the cake, thank you very much for the help ( booking the canoeing ) Jo and John. We have visited Lisle, Rocamadour, Roc St Christophe, Grottes de villars, Sarlat, Riberac market, Brantome, Bourdeilles, Nontron, Chancelade, Perigueux, Aubeterre sur dronne, St Jean de cole and passed through many quaint villages. There's so much to see and do we could easily stay longer. We have loved it all.
Thanks so much Jo, John, Max, Louis, chickens, duck, Maddy, Charlie and Tiger. Hope to see you again.

It has been strangely relaxing managing children in this beautiful setting - you have been fantastic hosts.

Beautiful scenery we were never bored, it was perfect. We loved Perigueux and Bergerac it was a wonderful week. The weather was boiling and we all got burnt.
House is absolutely stunning! In a great location with amazing facilites, John and Jo so welcoming. We had 3 gorgeous cakes. Don't want to leave.
Our top 3 - Vist Brantome, Restaurant Charbonel, walk to Bussac for a pression at the bar.
A wonderful holiday from start to finish for our family. For us as grandparents it was an idyllic place to spend some time with the family. Every aspect of provision in the house was great. We loved Jo's cakes and scones especially the choclate ones. The pool provided absolute bliss for the family. Our 2 daughters could only stay one week and were quite tearful on having to leave early.
Memories - taking my grandson for his daily walk to see the cows. Feeding the chickens and collecting eggs, a wonderful meal in the restaurant Charbonnel in brantome.
We love the Dordogne area so much but this was truly the best.
Simms and Bernards party
This is our second year staying at this wonderful house, thankyou once again Jo & John for your wonderful hospitality.
Unfortunately we had some bad weather and it was only the last 3 days that we saw the sun, but that didn't stop us having a wonderful time.
The kids have loved playing with all the toys and playing in the pool and on the bouncy castle.
Thanks for a wonderful holiday hope to see you again soon.
I've had a great holiday! I rteally liked everything. the pool was perfect, the bouncy castle was cool the animals were amazing. It was all outstanding.
Jo and John have been fab this is my favorite holiday yet. I hope we can come back.
We have had a lovely holiday here, lots of barbeques, thank you John and Jo for all the lovely vegetables from your garden, we estimate we have eaten about a 1000 cherry tomatoes over 2 weeks.
A lovely week! Our little boy has loved all the toys and the bouncy castle. the house is set in a really beautiful area with lots to explore even with not the best weather. Jo was a great help with the vet and all the eggs and veg were yummy. Thanks for all your help.
Our little boy is going to be very disapointed with the lack of toys when we get home. He is addicted to tractors anyway so couldn't have come to a better place.
Had some great BBQ's and nice meals at both Moulin de Pont and Donjon.
5* accommodation and great hosts. Come with my wife, daughter and son in law and 28 month old grand daughter, she loved all the toys bothin house and in the garden which is really child friendly.
The weather has been wonderful most days in the high 20's and as much as 30 degrees, so we made the most of the pool.
The area is wonderful and peaceful with interesting places to visit just a small drive away. Loved the fresh veg and I had forgotten how good fresh eggs taste.
Really hope we are able to return soon.
Just an amazing place for our family holiday ages ranging from grandmother (65) to youngest little one (1 year). Each and everyone of us has had the most enjoyable 2 weeks imaginable thanks to Jo and John and their great house and garden and dear Louis who made Joshua’s holiday ( he is 3 ) the most fun filled time ever.
Hopefully we can all do it again one year soon.
Broons party from Scotland July 3rd – July 17th
Had a great holiday, house was everything we hoped for and more. Highly recommended. Le Phenix in Bussac – hidden treasure.
To John and Jo thanks for a great time and Louis is now one of the family. Already talking about coming back.
What a lovely welcoming we received on our arrival after our long drive. Fresh eggs from the chickens and vegetables picked from the garden – very tasty. Not to mention the wine and cake waiting for us. Oh and the cold beers!
Weather was fantastic high 20’s to high 30, all trying to out do each other with our tans.
Visiting Brantome, a very pretty village well worth a walk around the Friday market and a canoe around the river. Not far away either.
Grotte de villar is a expensive day out but well worth it, the caves are very pretty and interesting with bear scratch marks and cave paintings.
Our nights consisted of sitting out watching the stars, satellites? ( or were they planes)
John and Jo are very welcoming, we had a birthday cake made for us (yum) kids champagne and sweets for a little party – Thank you!
All their fresh vegetables are delicious along with the eggs. Don’t think we have ever had such a healthy holiday!
Thanks for a lovely time.

From martha - I love feeding the cat, he likes milk, ham and cuddles.

Have had a great holiday. The house is fantastic and so well equipped. The children loved it and the weather was wonderful.
Fantastic cycling country - on and off road. Quiet roads and gentle hills.
We enjoyed the peace and tranquility ( well as much as you can with 3 children )
Many thanks to John & Jo for all your help and wonderful eggs and vegatables.
Graham and Pam, Francesca and Barry, Tony and Sarah
Francesca and Barry - have never felt so relaxed on holiday before. I wish we were staying for 2 weeks, even though the one week we have had has been amazing. Thank you so very much for making us feel so welcome. We won't forget the sunflowers.
Tony and sarah - Fabulous views, fabulous house and pool. Great places to visit Riberac and Brantome. John, Jo, Max and Louis were great hosts. Fabulous weather, if we wern't wage slaves we'd stay another week. Highly recommended. ( Great eggs )
P.S Ditto all the above plus thank you so much for the yummy eggs and veg - Sarah
Graham and Pam - A great welcome from Jo & Joh who added that unexpected warmth and friendship. A fantastic home, with character and beautifully clean and every convenience. The setting speaks for itself but the comaraderie of Jo & John and the boys adds something special. Gemma ( 11 months ) loved the baby swing. Thanks to you all you deserve success.
PS The bride felt very welcome if a little conspicuous.
Dan and Mikaela, Liam, Scarlet and Rosie. Paul and Jo, Rebecca and Thomas
Another fantastic holiday, with great weather and perfect hosts. Thoroughly recommend canoeing at Renamon, especially with a picnic.
Hopefully we'll make it a hat trick next year.
Thanks for all the eggs and veg
PS the balcony is the perfect location for storm watching.
Jenny and Justin with Joe, Ben and Niamh, Steph and Bob with Lottie and Adam
All have had a fantastic time, house and location have been great and all are returning to England totally chilled and several pounds heavier. Weather has been absolutely fantastic except for one washout day and too much at times for even the hardy sunbathers amongst us, so much so that the sun melted the spines on 3 out of the 4 books being read.
Children have been spoilt for choice and all had a great time. We were also lucky enough to get a tip off our family in England about a meteor shower so dragged our sunbeds ( an wine of course )down onto the football pitch where we saw 60+ shooting stars, family in England saw 1 ha ha!
Didn't actually go out hardly at all so have very few recommendations. Horse riding at Lisle well worth the money and probably children's highlight of the holiday although there was a bit of confusion over time. Don't be fooled like I was to lead the smallest cutest pony, he was by far the most trouble!!
Many thanks to Jo & John for all their help in booking things, sorting out my camera and their constant supply of fresh veg. Kids have loved feeding the chickens who true to Jo's word eat anything, Bombay potatoes was one of their last meals from us so you should have some tasty eggs in the coming weeks. Was woken up this morning by gun shots so can vouch for anything on the spit roast at the fete in Lisle this weekend will be fresh.
From Lottie - The house has been absolutely massive! Max and Louis have been great fun! Bouncy castle great! Pool great! Garden fab! Ping pong table excellent!
Beth & Chris - with Oliver, Sebastian, Imogen. Granma Ricci and Grandma Kimber
Fabulous house perfectly set up for kiddies. The boys don't want to go home; particuarly gutted as they made friends withMax and Louis tonight ( our last night - typical !!!)
The chickens ( feeding & collecting eggs ) have been a particular highlight of the trip, along with the vegetable garden which John & Jo kindly let us help ourselves to.
Trips out have included canoeing at Les Eyzies, water park at Angouleme and a beautiful meal at The chateau in Chalais ( very, very resonable ). We have left leaflets for the last two in the drawer.
A wonderful time was had by all, weather up and down but always warm.
Would definately look to return in the future - won't be next year as noticed before we left you were already booked up!
Imogen learnt to climb the stairs during our stay, unfortunately, which was a pain for us but the kids found it hilarious.
